One Moment.
One Long Moment.
— Laying in bed. Body reaching to be deeper in the ground. Mattress holding firm against the request. The lights too bright—too overhead. The slight breeze from the fan. Inhale. Slight hold. Exhale. Relief. I can feel the nicotine tingle As it spreads all through me. The right side of me shakes. Even more relief. A text says, Soon he’ll be home with me. Calming my breathing. Apparently it sped. Well don’t hold it in, now! Let’s sit up in this bed. Creaky bed and blowing From heat overhead. First time it’s cold enough to be snowing. That sounds still not the end. Heart slows back down. Knows it knows the sound. There’s never any mistaking— When love comes back around. She sits and closes her eyes. Knows he’ll be on time. Chest still fills with longing. To be with its bride. Patience comes as breathwork. Deliberately made true. Heart races again. When I think of you. A slight smile noticed Grows instantly large. Looking down in defeat— Knows it’s not in charge. Another engine zooms by… Could it be true? Heart once again slows down… Damn. Still not you. That one’s too loud. Won’t let stomach sit right. Went by too quickly— Hopes he makes it through the night. Breeze blows right along. Stomach states ‘won’t be long.’ It picks right up As if it knows the song. There’s the squeaking! That unmistable tune. Heart can speed up now. Door opens—eyes too. Rustling coming to and end. Let’s out one long sigh. Heart drops in an instant. Must’ve been a rough night. More clanking and rustling. Another bang or two. Closer and closer. Not long til breathing can… Ah…. Heart quiets with you.

very creative indeed!
The anticipation is palpable.
